Project Title: Using Robotic Process Automation for Streamlining Operations in E-Commerce Industry

In recent years, the e-commerce industry has been rapidly expanding. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the changes in customer shopping behaviors, the number of e-commerce orders keeps increasing. Although many e-commerce companies enjoy the benefit from the accelerating development of the industry, those companies are facing difficulties at the operational level. The problems in operation may cause failures to the companies. The existing operation flow of the companies is ineffective and inefficient in handling an ever-increasing number of workloads. Therefore, it is suggested that companies reengineer the operation flow to achieve better efficiency and effectiveness. Under industrialization 4.0, a digital approach to the operation is introduced. A new technology, Robotic Process Automation, is proposed applying in streamlining the e-commerce business operation and reducing cost. With RPA, businesses can automate mundane, repetitive, and rules-based business processes, enabling the labor to devote more time to high-value-adding works. This project aims to reengineer the existing operation flow by implementing the RPA to boost operational efficiency and effectiveness. In order to validate the RPA, it was carried out in an e-commerce company. Reengineering the existing workflow and improving the ineffectiveness and inefficiency. It found that the adoption of RPA can successfully reduce the average time of processing the workflow. Additionally, the accuracy rate of the output has accelerated to 100%.
