A celebration party to celebrate the winning of championship at a prestigious international Ernst & Young Open Science Data Challenge 2024 cum MSI Welcoming Lunch was held on 3 October 2024 at the Auditorium, HSUHK.

The winning team consisted of three current Year 4 students (Chan Ka Fai, Lau Ngai Sang, and Sin King Hin) from the BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Business Intelligence programme. They have been declared winners after competing against over 1,800 teams from universities and commercial organisations worldwide.  

The competition comprised of three phases.  Our team is one of the top 3 finalists to compete for the champion in Phase three. Their integrated business proposal adopted YOLO AI model and utilized data analytics techniques to develop solutions for pressing environmental issues. The presentation was made at the 2024 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium in July and impressed by the judges, leading them to the title of Champion.
