The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong’s innovative research project achieved impressive results at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva 2023 held from April 26 to 30, showcasing the university’s excellence in research and innovation on the global stage.
This was the first time the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) participated in the exhibition. Dr. HO To Sum, an Associate Professor of Department of Supply Chain and Information Management, School of Decision Sciences, won the Silver Award with his research project, which was supported by the Innovation and Technology Fund of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The winning project, “EBizbot,” is a real-time mixed reality based Artificial Intelligence system designed to optimize warehouse management, product promotion, and workflow for e-commerce companies. As customer consumption patterns shift from offline to online, e-commerce companies face the challenge of meeting the growing demand for fast logistics and real-time online consumption. EBizbot solves this problem by adopting innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to optimize e-commerce companies’ operation mode.
The awarded project has been commercialized, which was demonstrated as an example of HSUHK’s success in knowledge exchange for translating research and innovation outcomes into societal impact and impactful solutions. The University and School will continue to encourage teachers and students to develop innovative research technologies and solutions to help solve different problems and challenges facing the world.
The International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva is recognized as the most important international invention exhibition, with about 1,000 inventions from approximately 40 countries and regions participating in this year.
