The Policy Research Institute of Global Supply Chain (Institute) of Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) received a donation of half a million dollars (HK$) from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Bay Area Economic And Trade Association (Association) for supporting the Institute’s Greater Bay Area policy research.
The inauguration of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Bay Area Economic And Trade Association was held 26 October 2017. The Association, initiated by government and business leaders, economic experts and social elites in the Greater Bay Area, aims to support China’s national strategic plan and to promote planning and development of the Greater Bay Area. More than 400 prestigious leaders and elites from all sectors gathered together at the ceremony to witness the inauguration of the Association.
Professor Simon S.M. Ho, President of HSMC, and Professor Lawrence C. Leung, Dean of Decision Sciences received a donation cheque on behalf of HSMC. They expressed sincere gratitude to the Association for the support.
Professor Ho said, “Hang Seng Management College is glad and honoured to be able to contribute to the development of Greater Bay Area through the Institute’s policy research study. The donation has affirmed society’s recognition to our effort and achievements in policy research.”
Dr. Collin Wong, Head of Department of Supply Chain and Information Management, was invited on stage to promote the Greater Bay Area Symposium (7 December 2017) to all guests.
The Policy Research Institute of Global Supply Chain is currently working on a Greater Bay Area Project. The Project is an in-depth study of the logistics and trade facilitation in the Greater Bay Area, to provide policy suggestions for enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness. The research team will report the findings at the Symposium.
Some 20 HSMC students volunteered their support to the inauguration. They were very enthusiastic about their participation in this event and had seemingly gained valuable learning experience. The students all dressed nicely, handsome, well organised and were very proud to represent HSMC.
Professor Ho, Professor Leung and Dr. Wong highly appreciated our students’ outstanding help and thanked them for being great HSMC ambassadors to the event. We all take a great deal of pride in our students and let us give them a big round of applause.
