To align with the global development of HSUHK, SDSC actively establishes partnerships with overseas and mainland universities to promote cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.
On March 21, 2024, SDSC held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding with the School of Business and Zhuhai Research Institute of Hubei University in Wuhan. The two parties will strengthen cooperation in academic programmes, academic exchanges, student exchanges, and research, etc., jointly cultivate high-quality talents to promote academic and research development.
Hubei University, located in Wuhan, capital city of Central China’s Hubei Province, is a key comprehensive university jointly administered by Hubei Provincial Government and China’s Ministry of Education. It is a top university in Hubei Province and a participant in the “Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China” at the national level. The university offers a wide range of disciplines and majors, covering 13 academic areas with 24 discipline-based schools, 91 undergraduate majors, 9 doctoral programmes, 8 post-doctoral research stations, 31 master’s programmes, 22 professional master’s degrees, 33 national-level first-class undergraduate major, 6 national-level characteristic major, and 1 national-level comprehensive reform pilot project for majors. The university has over 21,000 full-time undergraduate students and over 12,000 doctoral and master’s students.
Professor Cheng Shixiong from the School of Business, and Dr Huang Hao, the Dean of the Zhuhai Research Institute of Hubei University, are looking forward to this cooperation. The signing of this memorandum of understanding marks the establishment of an in-depth cooperative relationship among the three schools/institute. It is hoped that both institutions will leverage their advantages and resources to continuously improve the quality of teaching and research, cultivate more talents with international perspectives and innovative capabilities, and further expand their influence and cooperation in the global area.
Professor Chan Wai Sum, the Dean of SDSC, also hopes that the signing of the memorandum of understanding will provide more opportunities and platforms for cooperation between the two institutions. Both parties will adhere to the principles of openness, cooperation, and win-win, and jointly promote the development of education and academia, carry out more academic exchange projects and research cooperation, and facilitate visits and exchanges between academics and students, creating a new chapter in cooperation and development.
The memorandum of understanding was jointly signed by Professor Cheng Shixiong from the School of Business, Dr Huang Hao, the Dean of the Zhuhai Research Institute of Hubei University, and Professor Chan Wai Sum, the Dean of the SDSC of HSUHK.
