Driving Smarter Work with AI: SDSC, CTL of HSUHK and SHKP Host an Inspiring Webinar on AI Applications for Operational Efficiency, Decision-Making, and Staff Capability Development

Jointly organised by the School of Decision Sciences (SDSC) and the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, together with Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP), the webinar “AI Applications for Operational Efficiency, Decision-Making, and Staff Capability Development” was successfully held on 14 May 2026. The event attracted more than 400 staff from SHKP and received positive feedback from them.

The webinar began with welcome remarks by Professor Chan Wai Sum, Dean of SDSC. He emphasised that the growing global impact of AI and data-driven technologies, noting that the future of work will be shaped not by competition between humans and AI, but by effective collaboration between human judgment and machine intelligence.

This was followed by insightful presentations from four distinguished speakers: Ir Dr George Ho, Mr Harry Lee, and Dr Valerie Tang from SDSC, together with Mr Kelvin Wan, Digital Learning Specialist from CTL. They shared perspectives on how Artificial Intelligence can support daily operations, strengthen decision-making, and enhance staff development.

Dr Ho introduced the concept of the cognitive enterprise, with a focus on orchestrating global cyber-physical infrastructure. Mr Lee shared insights into decision-making supported by generative AI. Dr Tang demonstrated how AI tools can be integrated to enhance work efficiency. Mr Wan concluded the webinar by presenting practical applications of AI tools and AI thinking, alongside selected student projects illustrated through engaging examples.

The webinar highlighted practical examples of AI adoption in the workplace, encouraging participants to embrace AI as a valuable partner in enhancing effectiveness and supporting continuous professional development in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
